Mandela Day – 67 minutes of service

Honoring Mandela Day: Making a Difference in 67 Homes

In 2017, Thula Thula, in collaboration with Lalela, (hyper link please www.lalela.org) several Corporate sponsors, and local volunteers, embarked on a remarkable initiative to commemorate Mandela Day. Inspired by the call to dedicate 67 minutes of service, we set out to make a meaningful impact in our community.

Our mission was clear: to improve the lives of families and create a safer living environment. With this goal in mind, we undertook the task of painting 67 homes with fire retardant paint. This simple yet significant act aimed to provide peace of mind and ensure the safety of these households.

The result of our collective efforts was awe-inspiring. Sixty-seven houses were transformed, now adorned with a fire-resistant coat of paint. This crucial protective measure allowed 67 families to sleep a little more comfortably, free from the constant fear of waking up to smoke engulfing their homes.

We extend our deepest and most sincere gratitude to every individual and organization that played a part in this incredible project. Your contributions, whether through sponsorship, volunteering, or support, made a tangible difference in the lives of these families. Together, we showed the power of unity and community spirit, turning Mandela Day into a catalyst for positive change.
