Fire in IY 20th August

Shortly before 8 PM, an urgent call alerted us to a fire outbreak in Madiba Square, towards the Hughenden side of IY. Our dedicated fire and rescue team swiftly responded to the scene, successfully containing the fire. Initial estimates suggest that between 15 to 30 structures have been destroyed as a result.
The community in this area has already faced fire disasters in November 2016, March 2017, and now in August 2017. Our thoughts and support are with them during this challenging time.

A comprehensive assessment of the damage was conducted, which assisted us in providing our targeted relief for approximately 100 people who were in need of groceries, toiletries, baby items and bedding.

In moments like these, it is crucial that we come together as a community, offering support, compassion, and resources to those in need. Together, we can provide the strength and resilience necessary to overcome such adversities. We appreciate the ongoing support from donors, and all those who stand in solidarity with the affected community. Your contributions make a significant difference in helping us provide the necessary aid and assistance.
